We'll be walking outdoors and visiting air-conditioned attractions, so casual, comfortable wear is best: think shorts, jeans, T-shirts, sundresses, hats, and tennis shoes. Light colors and natural fabrics like cotton and linen will help you stay cool. Pack a light jacket or sweater. And a swim suit! You'll also need one casual-but-stylish outfit for the 4th of July Party, and if you plan to explore on your own at night, bring an after-hours or date-night outfit too!

The major expenses—airfare, hotel, group tours, and transportation—are already covered (with a few exceptions). You will be responsible for approx. (8) daily meals and snacks (hotel provides free breakfast), souvenirs, optional free-day activities, and personal DoorDash or Uber rides. Plan for a trip budget of approximately $450 per adult and $160 per child (12 and under) to cover these additional expenses.
We’ve thought of everything to help you and your family get ready for an amazing trip! Here you’ll find important information to help you plan, plus what to expect while you're in Detroit. For even more details and a helpful planning checklist, be sure to refer to the full FAQs document.
Who is the main point of contact for the trip?
For any questions before or during the trip, please contact Angie by cell, text, or email. At the hotel, visit our private Family Hospitality Suite—your central hub for trip info, hotel room assignment, requests, schedules, family meetups, shuttle pick-up location, shopping, and dining recommendations.
What are the hotel arrangements?
Your rooms are pre-paid and assigned based on the number of beds you requested. Larger families may have multiple (adjoining) rooms, and anyone placed in a shared room has been pre-approved with same-gender roommates. Room assignments sent via email. Keep in mind, you’ll be responsible for any personal incidental charges during your stay.
What’s the Transportation Plan? How are we getting around?
We’ll provide transportation to and from the Detroit airport. For our 1-day historical group tour, we’ll travel together on a large, comfortable 56-passenger coach bus equipped with WiFi, restrooms, and storage for strollers (child car seats are welcome but not provided) We’ll also have 15-passenger vans running on a pre-planned schedule, driven by responsible family members. Need a quick errand? We can help with one of our rental cars! If you plan to explore outside of group activities, please arrange your own Uber rides.
What is the Daily Schedule?
You can find the Trip Schedule on the Home Page, and a detailed final version will be emailed to you closer to July. The main program and activities are already set, and we’ll only make adjustments if there are any changes with tours or attraction availability.
How does the Curated Experiences Day work?
On the 4th of July from 11 AM–4 PM, you’ll have an optional free day! Each family or individual (ages 16+) can choose one curated day package to enjoy some of Detroit’s favorite spots. Young children must be with an adult. Please sign up for (1) one experience using the website contact form by June 15th so we can plan transportation. If you’d rather relax, you’re welcome to stay at the hotel, swim, or just take it easy. In the evening, the 4th of July Party shuttle will depart from the Hotel at 5:00 PM.
